  • Endometriosis

    Endometriosis occurs when endometrial tissue grows outside of the uterus and implants on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, the ligaments that support the uterus and other organs in the pelvic cavity.

  • HPV

    Almost all cervical cancers are caused by HPV, and many people do not even know they are infected.  This is why HPV testing is becoming an important part of cervical cancer screening in women age 30 or older.

  • What causes common warts?

    Common warts are actually an infection in the top layer of skin, caused by viruses in the human papillomavirus, or HPV, family. When the virus invades this outer layer of skin, usually through a tiny scratch, it causes rapid growth of cells on the outer layer of skin – creating the wart.

  • HSG

    Hysterosalpinography (HSG) is an x-ray examination used to help examine the uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes.  It is used most often in infertility work ups to diagnose fallopian tube blockage.

  • Hysterectomy

    Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus and cervix.  It is a very common operation and may also include removal of the ovaries, and the fallopian tubes.

  • Laparoscopy

    Laparoscopy is a procedure in which a small camera (laparoscope) is placed into the abdomen for visualization and operation on the pelvic and abdominal organs.

  • Menorrhagia  (Heavy Menses)

    Menorrhagia is a fairly common disorder that is characterized by an unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual flow.  The menstrual flow in menorrhagia, will generally last more than 7 days, and be accompanied by fatigue, anemia and the passing of large blood clots.

  • Ovarian Cyst

    The ovaries are two small organs located on each side of the uterus.  It is normal for a woman to develop small cysts (a fluid filled sac) and these cysts are generally harmless and typically resolve on their own without treatment.

  • PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome)

    Women who have PMS, have symptoms in the second half of the cycle (after they ovulate on about day 14).  Common symptoms include emotional symptoms like being irritable, mood swings, depression, crying spells, social withdrawal, lack of concentration, forgetfulness and being overly sensitive.

  • Stress Urinary Incontinence

    Stress Urinary Incontinence is an involuntary loss of urine that accompanies any action that suddenly increases pressure in the abdomen.  More than half of women with symptoms do not seek medical care.  Some women have the false belief that it is a normal part of aging.
